10 Things I Am Telling You About

Me, essentially wearing a trash bag, next to an actual trash bag.

Remember during the early days of the pandemic when we’d all post pictures to our Instagram feeds with captions like, “Day 226391283 of lockdown”?? That’s how I feel about this January. Like, how? But also, why? You’re telling me this is the SAME MONTH as when I made all those New Year’s resolutions?!?!

Today is one of those days where I feel like giving up on everything. I’m wearing fleece-lined leggings, my hair is up, I’m eating pizza for breakfast, and I need to focus on joy, so here you go. These are things I recommend and/or are making me happy.

  1. I want a Stanley tumbler more than I care to admit. What can I say? It’s sleek and I’m thirsty. Instead, I got this one from Target for half the price and I routinely drink over 100 ounces of water a day and my skin is not showing it.

  2. I was once in an improv group with this guy who died. Before he died, he told me that body wash was bad for you and that you should only use bar soap. I’ve taken so little advice from people in my  life and yet this has somehow stuck with me. I’m all about this handmade soap I buy at Wegman’s. It smells like Christmas!

  3. This pop-culture newsletter, Hung Up, is fucking funny even though I literally have no idea who or what she is talking about 90% of the time.

  4. Looking for a book on Mormons murdered in Mexico? Why would you? Here’s one anyway!

  5. I make this recipe once a week. Except I swap in Banza pasta and half-and-half because I hate myself.

  6. 3 random things in my Amazon cart: a tortilla press (for squishing chicken), a fake ponytail, and a lazy susan

  7. I am dreaming of a writer’s retreat in this A-frame. And by “writer’s” I mean, “day drinker’s” of course.

  8. The best birthday card for your mother. If your mother is my mother, specifically.

  9. I sleep with this pillow like it’s a person that I’m squishing to death with my arms and the side of my face.

  10. This seems like a great dress to wear to a showing of Little Women (1994) at the home of Louisa May Alcott. (Don’t you think it’s a missed opportunity not to have a LITTLE WOMEN FESTIVAL in MARCH?!)

  11. One more: this is my puffy pink coat that is NOT flattering, but super warm and cozy.

Thanks for listening with your eyes. Have a great day!
